Music

These paintings are based on contemporary music composed by local artists.

I find it interesting and challenging to see how to translate the musical experience that happens in time to a visual experience in a given space on a canvas. I work with sketches and mapping of the canvas. I use color tonality that I feel represents the melodies and brush strokes that represent the rhythms and movement.

After a long time of being engaged in that dichotomy and towards the end of the process I immerse myself in the painting and pull the painting together so it will be a visual experience independent of the music.
